At this conference, Binh Thuan provincial people’s committee (PPP) awarded investment policy decisions for 10 wind and solar power projects with a total investment level of about VND 23 trillion and signed a memorandum of investment registration for 14 projects with a total registered capital of USD 19 billion and VND 30,696 billion in many fields.
According to DPM, Binh Thuan has relatively synchronous transport infrastructure, great potential for developing wind and solar power and abundant tourism potential. However, Binh Thuan still faces many difficulties in organizing and restructuring production to adequately promote socio-economic development.
In the coming time, Binh Thuan needs to exploit and effectively use resources, potentials and advantages to turn Binh Thuan into a highly developed province in the South Central Coast region.
In particular, Binh Thuan needs to adjust the old planning projects, develop the new ones associated with the development of three key areas as clean energy, tourism and high-tech agriculture coordinated with the marine economic development. DPM believed that, with the potential and advantages of developing clean energy, Binh Thuan will become a major wind and solar power production center of the country.
In addition, it should be noted that, at present, in Binh Thuan, there is Vinh Tan Thermal Power Center with a total capacity of over 4200MW (including Vinh Tan 1: 1200 MW, Vinh Tan 2: 1244 MW, Vinh Tan 4: 1200 MW and extended Vinh Tan: 600 MW) - the largest coal-fired thermal power center in the country. With this thermal power center (may be added the BOT Vinh Tan 3: 1244 MW) with wind and solar projects that have been, are and will be built in the coming years, Binh Thuan will become a large power center of the country in meeting the electricity demand of the big load centers in the South such as Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau in the period of 2020-2030.
