Up to 30 Vietnamese businesses have begun showcasing their wide range of products such as honey, cashew nuts, peppers, rice products, fruit and vegetables at the world's leading food fair, Sial Paris 2018, which started on October 22 and will run until October 25.
Reindert Dekker, an expert at the Netherlands' Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), said there has been a big change in the Vietnamese stands at this year’s fair that are the result of rapidly developing high value products and a closer professional coordination between fair organizers and Vietnamese businesses.
Vietnamese businesses joined the event with the aim of introducing their products and connecting with food and drink distributors across Europe, said Mr Dekker.
The prestige of Vietnamese businesses and the quality of their products have drastically improved over recent years, with evidence shown by the international certificates of quality that products obtained, he added.
Grasping the trend from European consumers for organic products, Vietnamese businesses brought a number of organic goods such as pepper and cinnamon and introduced new products, some of which are appearing in the European market for the first time.
The Sial Paris Fair 2018 drew more than 7,000 businesses operating in the food industry from 109 countries across the world.
The annual event regularly attracts around 155,000 visitors every year from nearly 200 countries in the world.
