Services Seminar hosted by Citi Bank Viet Nam as a panelist.

Moderated by Mr. Frederick R. Burke of Baker & Mckenzie, the panel also includes Mr. Pham B. Hawkins, Head of advisory of Indochina Capital, and Mr. James Mythen, Senior Associate of the Law firm Allen and Overy. The panel discussed and shared views with the audience about the anticipated trends for FDIs and cross-border M&A in Vietnam for the next 18 to 24 months.

 

Mr. Vinh expected that Vietnam shall attract capital mostly from the regional countries and will witness more and more mid-size transactions in consumer goods sectors, particularly garment, footwear, retail and distribution, as a result of the coming multilateral and bilateral trade agreements in which Vietnam wil participate. Vinh said: “Such opportunity has not been seen since Vietnam joined WTO in 2007 and thus will represent great chance for strategic and financial investors to unlock the potential of the consumer goods sectors in near term.”

 

Besides the M&A trends, the panel also forecasted on public and private equity transactions and their respective opportunities and challenges. The panel discussion was appreciated by the audience as it provided valuable insights from the M&A practitioners.
